The Rugby League Players Association congratulates Tyson Frizell, who became the 58th player to play 300 games in Premiership history when his Newcastle Knights side beat the Canberra Raiders on the weekend.
It is an incredible milestone for the forward, who made his debut for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks back in 2011 against Darren Lockyer’s Brisbane Broncos.
Nicknamed Friz, Tyson has spent much of his career at the St George Illawarra Dragons before making the move up the M1 to the Newcastle Knights. In 2022, Tyson won the Knights’ Danny Buderus Medal as the club’s Player of the Year.
Mitch Rein, an RLPA Player Operations Manager and former teammate of Tyson’s at the Dragons, congratulated him on reaching the huge 300-game milestone.
“Congratulations to Friz on reaching 300 games. It’s an incredible achievement and a significant milestone,” said Mitch Rein.
“I was lucky enough to share a small part of his journey all those years ago when we were teammates at the Dragons, and it comes as no surprise to see him reach this milestone.
“I’ve seen firsthand how hard he’s had to work throughout his career. His dedication to his craft, his discipline and his hunger have been there for many, many years.
“Friz is the smiling assassin. He has that ability to flip the switch at any given moment.
“It hasn’t always been easy for him. He’s had to overcome serious and debilitating injuries, rebuild his body and continue to perform as an elite player in our game for such a long period of time.
“That’s a true testament to his resilience and toughness.
“He’s also a very humble man. On behalf of the RLPA, I want to congratulate Friz on reaching 300 games.”
