The Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) is pleased to announce Tim Gordon was appointed Chair of the RLPA Board of Directors at their most recent meeting.
Mr. Gordon, a partner in the corporate advisory group at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, was first elected as a Director to the RLPA Board at the 2023 Annual General Meeting, bringing a wealth of experience having advised a range of clients on transactions, corporate governance and regulatory matters.
Mr. Gordon follows in the footsteps of previous RLPA Chair Steven Harker AM who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Regarding his appointment, Mr Gordon said:
“I am honoured to be appointed as Chair of the RLPA Board and thank my fellow Directors for the confidence they have placed in me to take on this role.
“I have been grateful to have served on the RLPA Board under the leadership of two outstanding Chairs, Dr. Deidre Anderson AM and the late Steven Harker AM. Both brought their own strengths to their role as Chair and were pivotal in providing elite rugby league players with the best rights, terms and conditions in the history of our great game.
“The RLPA Board has great diversity of experience among independent and player Directors, and that combination is one of our strengths.
“The next few months are an important time for the RLPA with preparations underway for the next collective bargaining agreement, and I am fully committed to assisting the RLPA’s work in protecting the interests of our current and past player members.
“As Chair, I look forward to working with my fellow Directors, our CEO Clint Newton and the RLPA team, as well as all our brilliant and united playing group and past players who make up the Rugby League Players Association.”
Clint Newton, Managing Director on the RLPA Board and CEO of the RLPA, congratulated Mr Gordon on his appointment as Chair.
