The Rugby League Players Association congratulates Daniel Tupou, who will become the 57th player to play 300 games in Premiership history when his Sydney Roosters play the Parramatta Eels on Saturday.
It marks another incredible milestone for the 35-year-old and three-time Premiership winner, who will also become just the fifth Roosters player to play 300 games for the club.
Often referred to as Air Tupou, courtesy of his trademark aerial ability when scoring tries, Daniel started on the wing for the Roosters in all three of their 2013, 2018 and 2019 Grand Final victories.
Over the course of his hugely successful career, Daniel has represented New South Wales 10 times in State of Origin, Tonga 21 times on the international stage, as well as making an appearance for the Australian Kangaroos in 2014.
The RLPA wishes Daniel the very best for his massive milestone match this weekend and for the remainder of his excellent and influential career.
Tinirau Arona, a former Roosters teammate and RLPA team member, thanked and congratulated Daniel on his 300-game milestone.
“I want to give a massive congrats on your 300th game. What a journey. What a milestone.
“From making your NRL debut back in 2012 to now playing 300 games, all at the one club, the mighty Sydney Roosters.
“I was very blessed to be a part of your early games and to watch the success you’ve had over your career, from winning three premierships to now holding the current club try-scoring record, and now playing 300 games.
“You deserve all the recognition and all the acknowledgements. I know you’re a very humble man, but on behalf of everyone here at the RLPA, we just want to say a big congratulations.
“Personally, I want to say thank you for being a role model and inspiration to all young kids and also young footy players wanting to play our great game.”
Tommy Symonds, another former Roosters teammate, also congratulated Daniel on his 300th appearance.
“Toops, you’ve had an incredible career, done everything in the game. The sight of you soaring through the air and scoring tries over many wingers is something I’m sure everyone will remember. Something I saw one too many times myself up close. Congratulations!”
