Crichton goes back-to-back in Player of the Month
Angus Crichton of the Sydney Roosters and New South Wales Blues has been voted the Rugby League Players Association’s Player of the Month for June. This marks his second consecutive win, following his recognition in May.
By winning the NRL player-voted June award, Angus becomes the first two-time and back-to-back winner of the RLPA’s Player of the Month award.
Angus was voted June’s Player of the Month ahead of fellow nominees Jahrome Hughes, Keaon Koloamatangi, Mitchell Moses and Brian To’o.
The back-to-back recognition from his peers underlines Angus’s meteoric return to form in 2024.
The Premiership and World Cup winner was a leading force for New South Wales in their dominant win over Queensland at the MCG in June. He also continued his strong performances in the NRL for the Roosters helping them to two wins in both games he played for the Tri-Colours.
Angus started June with a strong showing in New South Wales’s tough Game I defeat against Queensland at Accor Stadium. Although he played alongside just 11 teammates for most of the match, Angus was close to his dangerous best running 168 metres. At Game II at the MCG, he caused havoc all night for the Maroons with 174 run metres and nine tackle breaks.
Despite limited club appearances in June due to State of Origin commitments, RLPA Delegate Angus contributed significantly to the Roosters’ 28-18 win over Parramatta with a try and a try assist.
The RLPA’s Player of the Month is presented by Levels Network hosted by Justin Horo and Willie Mason, with the nominees and winners announced on their podcast each month.

“It is a credit to Angus and his rich vein of form and it’s no surprise that it’s also coincided with a successful month for his Roosters.
