Unyoked to recharge The Players’ Champion in 2020
The Players’ Champion winners for 2020 will be rewarded with a special ‘wilderness prescription’ – with the Rugby League Players’ Association partnering with Unyoked.
The best player – as voted by players – from both the NRL and NRLW will receive the prize of two nights away in breathtaking nature – allowing them to disconnect, decompress and recharge.
Unyoked provides unique ‘off the grid’ accommodation in wilderness locations across Australia – with the aim of bridging the gap between the city and the outdoors and helping busy people easily switch off and get back to nature.
The wilderness prescription prize is a fitting reward for players who have experienced a season like no other – with Unyoked providing an opportunity for players to relax after being significantly restricted by strict biosecurity measures over the past seven months.
RLPA Chief Executive Officer, Clint Newton, thanked Unyoked for their support of the Players’ Champion.
“We couldn’t think of a more fitting prize for the Players’ Champion winners after the unprecedented events of this season,” Newton said.
“Unyoked is an innovative Australian company that values the wellbeing of others, which made perfect sense for us to partner with them by providing our winners with the ideal chance to switch off after a challenging year in the bubble.
“I’d like to thank Chris and the team at Unyoked for their support of The Players’ Champion this year and look forward to building on this relationship in the future.”
Unyoked founder, Chris Grant, said the opportunity to partner with the RLPA was an opportunity to connect with players and introduce them to the Unyoked journey.
“Despite numerous challenges, from having the season suspended, rescheduled and moved across borders to the general state of global affairs, players have still been able to exceed expectations,” Grant said.
“The winners of the Players’ Champion in 2020 will have risen to the top during what has undeniably been one of the toughest moments in the game’s history.
“We are looking forward to providing the winners with some much-needed R&R.”
