RLPA congratulates Smith on 400 games

The Rugby League Players’ Association (RLPA) would like to congratulate Cameron Smith on becoming the first player to reach 400 NRL games this weekend.

The RLPA General President will bring up the milestone this Saturday in front of a home crowd at AAMI Park in Melbourne as his side takes on the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Smith made his NRL debut in 2002 for the Storm – with this milestone adding to an already unrivalled list of achievements during his first-grade career.

RLPA Chief Executive Officer, Ian Prendergast, paid tribute to Smith ahead of Sunday’s match against the Sharks.

“I would like to congratulate Cameron on becoming the first player in history to reach 400 NRL games,” Mr Prendergast said. “This is an astonishing achievement and something as a game we should all applaud.

“Cameron has made an enormous contribution to the game and excelled for his Club, Country and State over a long period.

“Reaching this incredible milestone is a testament to Cameron’s longevity and sustained excellence in what is one of the toughest sports in the world.

“I look forward to attending the match on Saturday night to help honour Cameron.

“I would also like to recognise the NRL on ensuring this game will be appropriately celebrated through a range of unique activations and the support that Barb and Cam’s family have provided throughout him throughout.

“On behalf of the RLPA and our members, I would like to congratulate Cameron on this achievement.”
