Working with the RLPA CEO and leadership team, the COO will implement the delivery of the RLPA’s vision, purpose, and strategy and manage the RLPA staff and key workstreams.

Therefore, the COO must have strong inter-personal skills to develop and enhance those relationships.

The COO will have the ability to develop and implement plans for the RLPA’s operational infrastructure, systems, processes and performance management. The successful applicant will drive a strong culture of high performance and service to the RLPA membership. Along with the Legal Counsel, the COO will be responsible for ensuring the constitutional and regulatory compliance of the RLPA.

The COO will have demonstrable experience and performance in the advocacy and representation of others. They will also have an ability to influence positive change and experience in managing a dynamic and hardworking team. The successful applicant must have exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills and operate with the utmost integrity.

A background in business, member-based organisations and advocacy will be important and a strong understanding of industrial and employment law (but not necessarily legally trained). Whilst the COO will not have direct responsibility for financial operations, they must have strong financial knowledge and skills to ensure the financial performance of the business and to understand the economy relating to professional sport, particularly rugby league.
