Rugby League Community Unites for Kurt

The New South Wales Rugby League community continues to rally behind seriously injured Cabramatta player Kurt Drysdale, with fundraising efforts so far totalling more than $60,000 – with thousands more expected to be raised in coming weeks across a range of Unite for Kurt activities.

Money has been donated to Kurt and his family through a range of efforts and by a number of organisations – bucket-style donations at NSWRL and NRL competition matches; fundraising efforts from rugby league clubs, players, supporters and officials; and through direct deposits by businesses including broadcasters. More funds are expected to be raised and deposited in coming days, with fundraising dinners at Cabramatta Rugby League Club (August 22 – sold out) and Wests Ashfield (September 24 – sold out) expected to tip the total well past the six-figure mark.

This weekend the Jim Owens Running Group, based out of Helensburgh just south of Sydney, will brand the Woronora Dam Pipeline Run in Kurt’s honour. Runners taking on the course will include Kurt’s dad Steve. Once again all money raised will go directly to Kurt’s care. More information attached.
