Rookie Watch – Round 9

RLPA.com.au each week provides an update on NRL rookies around the Clubs, highlighting the best performers in the lead-up to the Rookie of the Year medal at the Players’ Champion awards night.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad made his NRL debut for the Warriors yesterday against the Roosters, starting on the wing in his side’s narrow 14-13 victory.

Nicoll-Klokstad became the 29th player to debut so far in 2017, with a host of exciting rookies once again impressing during the weekend’s action.

Brian Kelly (Sea Eagles) and Moses Suli (Wests Tigers) were two of the best performing rookies in Round 9, with the pair having already played every game so far this season for their respective sides.

Kelly played a key role in Manly’s demolition of South Sydney on Friday night, making 133 metres and setting up a try in the 46-8 victory at Allianz Stadium.

Suli crossed for his second try of the season in the Wests Tigers’ narrow 22-16 loss to Cronulla, while also making 17 runs for 160 metres at Leichhardt Oval.

Corey Harawira-Naera (Panthers) also continued his impressive form with 139 metres and two line-breaks, while Morgan Boyle made a strong reurn to the Titans team with 125 metres.
