Daniel and Jacob Saifiti have extended their contracts with the Newcastle Knights.
The 20-year old twins, who both debuted in Round 1 this season and remain eligible to play in the Under 20s competition, were signed until the end of season 2017.
This week the Saifiti brothers signed for an additional year, keeping them at the Club until at least the end of the 2018 season.
“Daniel and Jacob have been in our system for some time now and we are delighted to secure them at the Club long term,” coach Nathan Brown said.
“They have both impressed this year and we know they will only continue to improve.
“They are a significant part of our plan at the Knights to build the team around our young local talent where possible.
“Not only are they talented young players, they are fine young men, which is equally as important in building our roster.”
Jacob, who plays in the second row, has played eight NRL games of a possible nine games this season.
“This Club means everything to me,” Jacob said. “The Knights has given me a great opportunity to play NRL and I just want to do everything I can to repay this Club.”
Daniel, who plays in the front row, has played six games and represented Fiji in last weekend’s Pacific Test. He also won Fiji’s Rising Star Award at the Petero Civoniceva Medal on Friday night.
“The future is bright here and we just want to be a part of it,” Daniel said. “We have a lot of young talent coming through and we are confident with the direction of the Club under (coach Nathan) Browny.”
