The brand-new NRL/RLPA Financial Education Program has started to roll-out through Clubs this week, with Shadforth Financial Group delivering the first two sessions at Wests Tigers and Canberra.
The ‘Budgeting 101’ workshop was delivered to groups of players at both Clubs, with the program met with a positive response from those in attendance.
Recently-appointed Financial Wellbeing Advisor and former Australian representative Ben Creagh, along with Private Client Advisor Brad Wira, met with players from the Tigers and Raiders to deliver the first sessions.
The ‘Budgeting 101’ Workshop is an interactive session that provides and overview of the components of a standard Rugby League Playing Contract, explains details of a budget, the importance of setting financial goals and choosing a financial mentor.
The session provides a ground-level understanding of the Player’s finances, whilst starting to build a solid foundation of financial literacy and successful financial habits that participants can use during and post their NRL careers.
‘Budgeting 101’ workshop sessions will continue to be delivered across other NRL Clubs in the coming weeks.
Other workshops within the NRL/RLPA Financial Education Program include Rookie Camp, Financial Goals and Planning and Transition.
